Guy Shoham wanders through the city collecting objects that appeal to his magpie tendencies, and thus builds up a library of discarded objects marked by time and narrative. He then collages his new treasures to create subjects for his still life paintings. Dreams and recollections suffuse the process and the results are never predictable but often beguilingly lustrous. The highly traditional medium of oil on large canvas is renewed with a gossamer sheen.
Since graduating with distinction from Chelsea College of Art in London in 2002, he has exhibited in Tel-Aviv, Geneva, Vienna and most recently in London, a solo show entitled 'Magpie'.
