Born 1966, lives and works in Tel Aviv

Sher, has been focusing in recent years on the relations between photography, sculpture and painting while bridging the practices of different periods and creating connections between art history and the online era. His works are endowed with both a journalistic and a pictorial collage language at the same time. Sher creates manipulated images based on archival materials, and re-writes them to infinity. He challenges the conventional assumptions of progress, linear sequences, and fragments of historical and technological progress and connects art history with a range of technologies. Sher extracts from the familiar and historically charged image an independent element. This move, recreates the image as an object which encompasses a world of its own and thus shifts the art towards universal human values.
